Kelly Stables is an American actress for television,
stage and film who can currently be seen as “Melissa” in the #1 rated television
comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN.
Kelly was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Her earliest memory is
knocking on her neighbors doors, giving them hand-made puppets (made from a
brown paper lunch bag) and inviting them to a show on her driveway that night...
which consisted of Kelly playing the ANNIE record and singing in her nightgown.
She spent her teenage summers working at Scoop-dee-doo Ice Cream shop and
attended Lafayette High School where she was voted “Most School Spirit” and Prom
Queen. Kelly was active in cheerleading, Jazz-ma-tazz show choir and theatre.
Her first professional acting job came when she was cast in the teen chorus of
GODSPELL at The Muny Opera. She soon went on to graduate cum laude from the
University of Missouri, Columbia earning a bachelor’s degree in Communication
with an emphasis in Television and Theatre Performance minor.
During the ides of March of 2000, Kelly decided to pack up her car and move to
Los Angeles. She knew no one, but found a small studio apartment and used the
purple blow-up furniture (that her big sister bought her) to sleep on. She soon
became associated with Theatre West but would call St. Louis in tears
practically every day, because if she tried to go anywhere other than the
theatre she would end up completely lost somewhere in LA.
Finally, came a “monstrous” break. She was fortunate enough to meet the Academy
award winning, legendary make-up artist Rick Baker who helped her land the role
of “Evil Samara” in THE RING 2, after doing stunts in THE RING. For each day of
shooting THE RING 2, it took Mr. Baker and his team 5 ½ hours to apply the
prosthetic make-up on Kelly.
This led to other film roles for Kelly in the horror genre including the British
thriller TELLING LIES, in which Kelly starred along side Jason Flemyng and Mel
B. She also starred in a good number of independent movies including TOGETHER
AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME (Lifetime network), PRIDE & PREJUDICE (Showtime),
FURNACE (Sci-Fi Channel) and DRAGON HUNTER (coming out on dvd this summer), in
which case unless you are related to Kelly you most likely have not seen.
She recently shot a movie for ABC Family called SANTA BABY 2, with Jenny
McCarthy and Paul Sorvino, which will be out this Christmas.
Kelly had a bit of beginner’s luck at one of her first auditions for television,
booking a pilot called BOARDING SCHOOL (“BS”) and landing roles on GENERAL
HOSPITAL & THE GRUBBS (in which Kelly played a teenage Carol Kane.) She has been
active in voice-over work, both as the voice of “Will” in Disney’s W.I.T.C.H.
and “Digit” in TOO MANY ROBOTS. Kelly has also landed Guest Starring roles on
LIFE, ‘TIL DEATH, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, CAVEMEN, and is recurring on ABC
Family’s GREEK as “Janette.”
Her most fun
and recognizable role however, is playing "Melissa" on the hit show TWO AND A
HALF MEN. As Alan's (Jon Cryer) receptionist, what started as a
one-weekend-stand with Charlie (Charlie Sheen), ended in Melissa falling in love
with Alan, and becoming his on-again, off-again girlfriend. "Yeppers!"
Along with her on-screen work, Kelly maintains a presence in local Los Angeles
theatre, having performed in over two dozen plays and/or musical productions.
She portrayed Marion Davies (“Daisy”) in the world premiere musical W.R. &
DAISY, and played “Wendy” in the Thousand Oaks Civic Light Opera production of
PETER PAN. Most recently Kelly played “Cindy Brady” in the world premiere
musical A VERY BRADY MUSICAL, to which Variety said, “Kelly Stables gleefully
steals the show as the ever-lisping Cindy, hitting every comedic note with
impressive and hilarious skill.”
Kelly first
dabble into producing can be seen in the new internet horror series called SOUL
FIRE RISING. The show is about how heaven sends a demon to keep the world from
going to hell. Check it out at www.soulfirerising.com
Kelly is an avid sports fan and sustains an undying devotion to her St. Louis
Cardinals. She is interested in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease and when
she is not bragging about her adorable nephews to anyone who will listen, she is
either singing show tunes or writing. Kelly currently resides in Los Angeles and
is married to Kurt Patino. She thanks YOU for watching her projects… and anyone
who is still reading this!
